Circles
Circles
A Circle is a space for a group of people — a family, a team, a community — with an announcements feed at the top and group chats inside it.
What a Circle holds
- An announcements feed, for the things everyone needs to see.
- Group chats inside the Circle, for the day-to-day.
- Shared media, documents and voice notes.
- Calls, from inside the Circle’s groups.
Privacy
Circles are end-to-end encrypted, the same as one-to-one and group chats. Someone who is not a member cannot read a Circle, and a non-member is not shown its contents.
Channels, for broadcasting
Where a Circle is a private space, a channel is a feed people follow. Invite-only channels are end-to-end encrypted. A public channel is a broadcast to anyone who follows it, so it is public rather than encrypted.
