Whyvo features
Everything Whyvo does
Whyvo is a private messaging and calling app. Chats and calls between people are end-to-end encrypted, and the parts that are public are clearly marked as public.
Messaging
One-to-one chats, group chats and Circles are end-to-end encrypted. Only the devices in a conversation can read what is sent.
- Text, replies, edits, forwarding, reactions and starred messages.
- Disappearing messages with a per-conversation timer.
- Chat Lock, so a chat asks for your device authentication before it opens.
- Read receipts, typing indicators and last-seen controls you can turn off.
Voice and video calls
Calls are one-to-one or group, and call media is end-to-end encrypted on web, iPhone and Android.
- Voice calls, video calls and group calls.
- Scheduled calls with a card you can join from the chat.
- Voicemail when a call is not answered.
- A call history you can search, swipe and act on.
Media
Photos, videos, documents and voice notes, with an editor before you send.
- Crop, straighten, filters, stickers, text and drawing on photos.
- HD or standard quality, chosen per send.
- Large file sending, with the upload resumable rather than silently failing.
- Voice notes with a waveform, and documents with real file-type icons.
Stories
Share a photo, video, text or voice story that disappears after 24 hours.
- Choose who sees each story: your contacts, a named list, or everyone.
- Reply to a story and it lands in the chat as a quoted card.
- Stories aimed at contacts or a named list are end-to-end encrypted. A story you make public is public by design, and is not.
Circles and channels
A Circle is a space for a group of people: an announcements feed plus the group chats inside it. Channels are broadcast feeds you can follow.
- Circles and invite-only channels are end-to-end encrypted.
- Public channels are a broadcast to anyone who follows them, so they are public rather than encrypted — Whyvo says so rather than implying otherwise.
Make it yours
Themes, wallpapers and sounds, on every platform.
- Light, Dark or follow your device.
- Chat wallpapers, including animated ones.
- Alternate app icons.
